Poetry
While earning an MA from the School of Communications, San Francisco State University, I wrote a thesis level paper on Poetry as a Public Art. As a social worker, I became involved with poetry as a healing art for non-writers and all writers. I participated in poetry reading/slam at Monterey Peninsula College with writer/professor Henry Marchand, and joined an online poetry group where I discovered a plethora of skill sets, personalities, and communication styles more social science than writing. It fascinated me and I collected comments on poems written as assignments, to illustrate a very human but dehumanizing quest for recognition within us, and ways we rub each other without realizing, and how the light we shine is often not of ourselves, but on ourselves.
